Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Working Together

Here are some of our frequently asked questions

What can we clean?

We are able to pressure clean pretty much anything. We specialise in driveways, patios & decking but we can also clean brickwork, pathways, and fences.

Are you insured?

Yes, we have full public liability insurance for high pressure cleaning.

I have a block driveway, is this a problem?

No, we can clean any kind of drive, whether it’s block, crazy, natural, concrete, tarmac or good old slab paving. The price is the only thing that may differ between types of driveways, as some are more labour intensive. Block paving needs re - sanding after cleaning. This process ensures the blocks don’t move which can cause loose bricks.

Do you offer a weed-free guarantee?

It’s impossible to provide a guarantee against weeds, due to the nature of certain paving, and the environment. Weeds will appear wherever there is a suitable area to grow in. If you have cracks in your paving then this is a susceptible place for weeds to grow. Cracked or broken mortar is a haven for weeds. Block pave jointing sand can remain damp for long periods of time. The use of sealers and polymeric sands can help “reduce” weed growth, but there is no 100% prevention method. Sealed joints and polymeric sands can crack under heavy traffic. Once a joint has cracked it opens it up to weeds. A regular weed killing regime should keep weeds at bay. Unfortunately, due to licensing laws we are unable to apply weedkillers. This is a service we are currently looking to provide soon.

Can you clean the crossover?

The crossover, or section of paving leading from the road up to your property is usually council land. Although these areas can get very dirty, we are unable to clean them due to the fact they are council property. If the crossover forms part of a pedestrian pavement. These walkways can only get maintained by the council or their approved contractors. If the crossover is part of your land boundary, then it will say this in your title deeds. These are usually associated with driveways which have no pavement. Different councils have different rulings on this.

Can you do repairs?

Yes, we can carry out minor repairs to most areas.

What areas do you cover?

We’re based in Hempnall, Norfolk. Covering a 30mile radius. We can travel out of the area but it depends on the job.

Do you clean all year round?

Yes, we can. Yet, the weather can have a massive impact on cleaning block paving or decking. Cleaning a deck area is not a problem but it needs to be warm and dry to re-treat it. Block paving is very similar, the actual cleaning is not an issue. The area has to be dry in order for the fresh sand to drop into the joints, you don’t get much chance through the winter. If the area is damp, the sand won’t fill the joints leading to open gaps and potential shifting blocks. As a guideline, decking is best cleaned and treated from mid-April through to early September. Block paving is best done from late March until the end of September (weather permitting)

Can you seal my drive/patio?

Sure, no problem, we do like to assess each area and recommend the best course of action. Some areas don’t gain from applying sealers, the cost can outweigh the benefits. Natural drainage is also reduced. Sealers can last from 18 months to 5 years depending on the brand.

Can you remove lichen (black spots)?

Yes, we can. We use a form of biocide to remove lichen spores. It’s a very cost-effective way to remove those pesky spots. Don’t spend hundreds on so-called “miracle products”.

Do you use chemicals to clean?

We only use water to actually pressure clean your drive or patio. If there are any stains on the area such as oil, then we may need to apply a form of stain remover to try and lift the stain. Not all stains are removable, especially if they’ve sat for a long time. We will do our best to remove or reduce the appearance of any staining, although this depends on how bad the area is. Ghosting is usually visible after cleaning long term stains. Pressure cleaning will remove moss and surface algae, for deep dirt the use of a biocide is best. We avoid brick acids as they contain harsh chemicals which can damage stonework. We do need to use a chemical when treating lichen, heavy lichen doesn’t come out with pressure alone.

What can you do during the winter?

During the winter we offer a leaf and gutter clearing service. By using our ground-based vacuum with 4K camera, we can clear all your gutters of leaves and moss. The camera can record the clearing process, showing you the before and after. Upon booking our gutter cleaning service we will carry out a free onsite inspection. We make sure they actually need clearing, that way you don’t get charged for something that doesn’t need doing. Getting rid of all those fallen leaves around your garden can be a chore. We can clear them all away and if needed power rinse the area down to remove any slippery residue. Cleaning a deck without treating isn’t advisable, although decks do get slippery. We are more than happy to clean a deck during the autumn/winter months, but we can’t re treat it.

Will you be using my electricity?

No. Our pressure washing system uses a state-of-the-art petrol driven engine. It doesn’t need any source of electrical power. The only time we may need an electric supply is if you have drainage issues, or access restrictions. We may need to get our wet vac out to clear the pooling water, or if you’re having your gutters cleared.

What about water?

In order for us to clean we need a source of water. A regular size van isn’t capable of carrying enough water to clean large areas. We will need access to a water source, like an outside tap. You won’t need any special connections as we carry these on the van. We carry approximately 300L of water on board, so we can start work without waiting for a tank to fill up. It’s hard to say exactly how much water we will use. As an approximation, a 100sqM block paved driveway will use around £2.80

What’s your guarantee?

We guarantee you to do a good job. Our aim is to ensure that you are happy with the finished result. What we can’t guarantee is how long your area will stay clean for and how long before weeds will re-grow. So many factors will come into play, such as the time of year and how much traffic that particular area gets. You can’t expect a cleaned driveway to still look clean 8 months to a year later, especially in England.
